WHAT IS DEMI FINE JEWELLERY
Demi-fine jewellery is the modern middle ground — real materials and refined elegance, without the luxury price tag. Demi-fine jewellery is usually made from sterling silver coated in a thick layer of 14–18k gold (gold vermeil) and often paired with semi-precious stones. It is more affordable than fine jewellery because it uses gold plating over a base metal rather than solid gold. Here at L’Atelier 73, all of our pieces are either 18ct Gold Plated, 18ct Rose Gold Plated or Sterling Silver.
Fine Jewellery
Fine jewellery uses solid precious metals and real gemstones — think gold, platinum, diamonds, rubies, emeralds. With materials this premium, the price point naturally follows.
Demi-Fine Jewellery
Demi-fine sits confidently in the middle. It’s crafted from sterling silver, coated in thick layers of real gold (gold vermeil), and is often paired with semi-precious stones. You get the same elevated look and lasting quality as fine jewellery, just without the higher price point.
Costume Jewellery
Costume jewellery uses cheaper base metals and lightweight plating. Fun for a moment, but not made to last — it can tarnish quickly but is more affordable than fine and demi-fine jewellery
